Vampire Hands new album - Hannah in the Mansion
Ever since my good friends in Vampire Hands formed back in 2005, I’ve been making my own iTunes album covers for their stuff. I posted something about a year ago for their last record, Me and You Cherry Red.
It started out of necessity, since the real early VH stuff was just burned off a computer. I’m also obsessive about having artwork to go with my digital music. I’ve kept up the process with pretty much everything they’ve put out, really as just a fun excuse to go and mess around in Photoshop. For the Hannah in the Mansion cover, I combined two works by J.M.W. Turner, an English landscape painter that I discovered randomly on PBS a few months ago. The end result is this moody, abstract image that looks like it could be the cover for a classic rock record. I think it’s my best so far.
The same goes for the band. Mansion has been getting some great press from music blogs and the local papers. It also sounds fucking fantastic. So go buy it on iTunes and eplace the stock St. Ives record lable artwork with this!
For more on the band, check out this great piece from the Star Tribune.
